ComArts Senior scores a “Double V” in leadership

Kenneth AlJohn Abas, a Communication Arts senior of the School of Liberal Arts, was named one of the Five Outstanding Zamboangeño Young Leaders (FOZYL) for 2016 and received the Senator Roseller T. Lim award during the 10th Dia de Roseller Lim commemorative celebration last February 09, 2016 at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

“I’m grateful that I am a part of this year’s FOZYL. I hope that this would inspire my fellow Ateneans and Zamboangeños to uphold the values of excellence, citizenship, and spirituality through servant leadership,” Abas says. FOZYL awardees were selected based on their qualities of leadership, excellence, and commitment to service — values upheld by the late Sen. Lim, the only Zamboangeño senator, to date.

As a student, Abas aims for excellence in his academic performance, and is involved in various social development initiatives. He’s an active student volunteer in the Ateneo Recovery and Assistance Program (ADZU-RAP) and Ignite-ADZU.

Other FOZYL awardees this year include Arnold Ferolino, Arthur Joshua Rodriguez, Nafieza Mohammad, and Raemond Angelo Karagdag. The awarding ceremony was the culminating event for the celebration of the Dia de Roseller Lim held every 9th of February.
