BS Pscyh Student Wins Inaugural SLA Undergraduate Research Paper and Presentation Competition
Jose Francis M. Llenado, who also represented his partner Claudine A. Yubal, took home the top prizes in the premiere edition of the School of Liberal Arts (SLA) Undergraduate Research Paper and Presentation Competition held at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, on March 20, Wednesday.
With his paper, “The Easy Way Out: The Relationship of Anticipated Cognitive Demand and Extrinsic Incentive in Course of Action,” Llenado discussed how he and his partner set out to test the minimization bias phenomenon and how they eventually prove the behavioral trend for avoiding cognitive demand in the presence of an external reward orientated motivation.
He eventually went on to win both the Best Undergraduate Research Paper and Presentation awards beating out four other papers. Prior to the finals, the different department chairs identified the best thesis from among their students as contest entry. A panel consisted of Mr. Marlone M. Araneta, Ms. Anamae M. Tanguilig, Dr. Robert V. Panaguiton and SLA dean, Dr. Claribel C. Concepcion identified the top finalists.
Runner-up was BS MassCom senior, Mr. Ryan Victor with his thesis, “The Levels of Awareness of AdZU College Students on the Graphics and Color-Coding Scheme of the University’s Solid Waste Management Program.”
Meanwhile in her welcome address, Dean Concepcion emphasized the need for Ateneans to see the value of doing and having a sound background in research work, most especially in their prospective careers.
Incidentally, Mr. Llenado is the Philosophy Awardee of this year’s graduating class.
