Atty Lidinila Ramos-Reyes BSBA ‘60 fondly called Liddy by friends was recently chosen by the Awards Committee of the 8th All Ateneo Convention as the Outstanding Alumna of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. The award will be given during the Gala Night & Dinner Dance event of the Convention on July 5, 2008 which will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois.
A lawyer, Lidinila Reyes pioneered in the organization of the Autonomous Government of Region IX in the – the forerunner of the current Autonomous Regional Government for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
She was a researcher in the Presidential Task Force for the Reconstruction and Development of Mindanao & Sulu that drafted the Code on the Certification and Administration of Philippine Muslim Laws.
She received the Armed Forces of the Philippines Merit Medal for outstanding service in a civilian capacity. Her 21-sector book report assessing the Marcos dictatorship was filmed by Mindanao Films and released under the title Lagaglab sa Lupang Pangako (Wildfire through the Promised Land).
In Hawaii, she joined the Domestic Violence Clearing House and Legal Hotline as Program Coordinator of “Pilipina” aimed at helping Filipina victims of abuse. Subsequently, she joined the Civil Rights Litigation Division in Honolulu of the Attorney General’s office.
