Ateneo renews ties with Norton University in Cambodia towards international collaboration

A delegation led by Rector Chan Sok Khieng from Norton University in Cambodia, with Acting Director of Accounting and Finance Ms Ly Sokphima, Deputy Head of Business Department Ms Rath Davy, and Dr Van Dalluay, Dean of Graduate School and Honor Dean of the College of Social Sciences visited the Ateneo de Zamboanga University on November 15 and 16, 2023 to renew old ties spanning decades of friendship and to discuss possible areas of international collaboration. 

The delegation from NU presented the AdZU President Fr Guillrey Anthony “Ernald” Andal SJ with various books on Information Technology, Sciences, Accounting, Literature, etc as seed collection in honor of Fr. William H. Kreutz or Fr Bill to many, who was central to the establishment of the university in Cambodia in 1996. The 27-year-old university is home to various programs for the people of Cambodia such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, Medicine, Nursing, and English among others. 

Also with the AdZU President and in attendance to the meeting are Member to the Board of Trustees Dr Rebecca Fernandez, Vice President for Higher Education Fr Rene Tacastacas SJ, Executive Assistant to the President Renee Vieve M. Vecina-Kanindot, Director of Human Resources Engr Aldrina Hitalia, Director of the Center for Information and Technology Services (CITS) Mr Eugene Kanindot, Executive Director of the Ateneo Zamboanga-Mindanao Institute (AZMI), Dean of the College of Nursing Ms Maria Lorna Paber, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts Dr Robin de los Reyes, Program Coordinator for Graduate Studies of the School of Education Dr Raissa P Austero. 

The guests were given a tour to all three Ateneo de Zamboanga University campuses: Salvador, Kreutz, and Lantaka. The visit commenced with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to strengthen ties for future internationalization efforts between universities in Southeast Asia.
