Ateneo President leads in charting new directions for AdZU

Ateneo de Zamboanga University President
Fr Karel San Juan SJ holds a series of conversations with various sectors of the
Ateneo community to talk about what’s in store for the university in the next
five years.

San Juan, who was inaugurated as
University President last 2013, talks about the institution’s #rise to future,
as he enters the 4th year of his leadership in the Ateneo.

The first group he convened was
the Central Services. Among other things, he presented AdZU’s new
VISION-MISSION, which inspires, fuels, and guides the new five-year strategic
plan (2017-2022).

He shares; “We are inspired by
our shared vision and mission, our sense of family and community, our God and
our faith, and our pride in our institutional heritage and stability.”

Tomorrow, March 14, 2017 he is
scheduled to speak to the Higher Education Unit (tertiary department), Grade
School, Junior High School, and Senior High School Faculty.

Some key targets of the strategic
plan include increase on faculty and student achievements, greater impact of
social development, community engagement, and issue advocacy activities particularly
in areas of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

But the highlight of the
conversation is the construction of a 5-storey building which will be the new
home of the Senior High School.

The building, which will be
located at the Salvador Campus in La Purisima, will boast of 8 laboratories, a chapel,
prayer rooms, cafeteria, and commercial spaces and will be equipped with ramps,
elevator, rain collection system, self-sustaining green spots, and a provision
for solar panels as part of the university’s thrust towards utilizing renewable
energy such as the Solar Energy Power system.
