AdZU to host confab on Chabacano

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) with the support of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) celebrates the 500 years of Spanish presence in the Pacific region through a mini-conference on Chabacano as a celebration of Spanish influence on November 27, 2013 dubbed as Historia de Zamboanga, Memorias de España.

Speakers include Mr. Hezekiah A. Concepcion with his discussion of the Spanish presence in southern Philippines and School of Art and Sciences dean, Dr. Claribel C. Concepcion on the preservation of Chabacano. Communications Department chair, Ms. Monabelle B. Delgado will share on recent inroads of Chabacano in popular culture. For his part, local news presenter, Mr. Ronald B. Lledo, will talk on the challenges in the field of broadcast media in Chabacano. The said conference will also feature renditions of Chabacano songs.

The event will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, LRC Building, Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
