ADZU student bag Dia de Cesar Extemporaneous Speech Tilt

Kurt Jesher D. Recinto, sophomore BS Accounting Technology, bagged third place honors in the extemporaneous speaking contest to commemorate the 30th Death Anniversary of legendary Zamboanga mayor Cesar C. Climaco.

The event took place at the City Hall Conference Room at 3pm on November 14, 2014. It was part of several events lined up by the city government as part of the Dia de Cesar celebration.

Life and Legacy of Cesar Cortez Climaco: Carisma (Charisma), Coraje (Courage), Compasion (Compassion). Climaco was mayor of Zamboanga for 11 eleven years in three non-consecutive terms. He was well-loved by the Zamboanguenos for his palpable love of the city and hi outspoken ways. He was a nationally known as a critic of the dictator Marcos.

He was assassinated by an unknown gunman on November 14, 1984. The current mayor, Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar is his grand niece.

Eight contestants from four schools joined the event.
