AdZU SLA holds International Studies Assembly

Beyond the provision of quality education, the AdZU School of Liberal Arts (SLA) ensures that the parents, guardians, and students under the International Studies (INTS) program are updated on the extra-curricular activities and engagements of the course with its unique, enriching, and engaging curriculum. To achieve this, SLA, through the International Studies Organization of Ateneo (ISOA), conducted the ISOA Parents-Teachers Conference this 19 January 2019 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall in AdZU Salvador Campus.

Invited to share firsthand experience were seniors and INTS alumni who have undergone two of the most important activities in the program – International Cultural Exchange and Internship. Ambassadors of the P2A: Passage to ASEAN and JENESYS2018 programs reechoed their invaluable experience as diplomatic envoys of the Philippines. Senior AB-INTS students who interned in the Embassy of the United States in Manila, AFS Intercultural Exchange Program, House of Representatives, Asia Society Philippines, and World Youth Alliance, to name a few, shared how their internship allowed them to harness interpersonal and communication skills and develop good work ethics necessary to thrive and progress and in the labor force.

Ms Ma Christina Cañones, Chair of the Social Sciences Department of SLA, highlighted in her welcoming message the importance of internship and other similar activities in helping prepare the students for the challenges brought about by the real world.

Recurrent in the experiences shared by the senior students and alumni were how they learned the values of patience, integrity, and humble service to the community, further igniting in their hearts the passion to pursue further their chosen career path.

True to its mission, AdZU provides to its students, holistic development fostering values and intellectual disposition ideal of an Atenean – empowering them to provide humble yet quality service in honor of God and country.
