The Blue Eagles flocked to their nest for this year’s Grand
Alumni Homecoming, starting with the Jubilarians’ Mass at the University
Church of the Sacred Heart on Day 1, followed by the Parade around town, to the
convivial reunion of batchmates at the Fellowship Night, with Father President
Karel San Juan, SJ, doing the rounds of tables for photo-ops – capping the
first of three days of the 2018 AdZU Alumni Grand Homecoming.
The BLUE Eagles hit the GREEN in a
Golf-for-a-Cause Tournament on Day 2 at the Zamboanga Golf and Country Club, Upper
Calarian in the AM. Awarding of the winners was held later in the evening. In
the PM, jubilarians (Class 58, Class 1968, Class 78 and Class 93) were given recognition and
special citations at the Awards ceremony held at the CDCH: Dr Ruwelinda Alfaro-Uy, Atenean of the Year; Outstanding Jubilarians: Fr Jesus Lucas, SJ (posthumous, HS 68), Alvin Araneta (HS 78), Wendy Geronimo Dela Peña (HS 93), Zandro Sepe (BSED 93), Roselyn Chua (BSAC 93), Atty Laisa Masuhud-Alamia (BSN 93); Special Awards: Julieto Fernandez (Education), Liza May Bernardo-Jecino (Health Education), Rachel Vitaliana Baños-Vergel de Dios (Humanities and Arts/Mass Media), Julita Chio-Nunez (College 68), Daniel Santos (HS 68), Eric Cabayacruz (BSN 93), and Michael de Vera (BSN 93).
The
three-day homecoming culminated last Sunday, December 2, with the Alumni Mass
at 9:00 am at the UCSHJ, followed by the General Assembly of Class
Representatives and the election of the new members for the AdZU
Alumni Association Board of Trustees at 10:30am at the CDCH. AdZUAA then welcomed its new members: Atty. Alexis De Lima (HS 98) as Vice President, Rosalie Y Chua-Enriquez (BSC 91) as Treasurer, and Lourdes Grace Antolihao (BSN 92), Gian Paolo Enriquez (HS 94, BSBM 99), and Luis Zabaljauregui Jr (HS 66, CO 70) as BOT Members for 2019. The event capped
with the much anticipated Blue and White Night at 6:00 in the evening at the
Royal Convention Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel.
