ACES Program Officer Ms. Shareeka Villamer successfully participated in the Community-Led Disaster Risk Management (CLDRM) Workshop held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from December 8–11, 2025, organized by Jesuit Mission Australia.

The four-day regional workshop convened partners from Jesuit-supported community development projects to deepen their understanding of community-led approaches to disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and resilience-building.

Sessions focused on participatory risk assessment, community planning, early warning systems, and the role of local leadership in disaster preparedness and response. Through experience-sharing, group workshops, and reflective discussions, participants examined how locally grounded knowledge, strong community ownership, and collaboration with local governments and stakeholders contribute to more sustainable and effective disaster risk management.

The insights gained from the workshop will inform ACES’ ongoing programs and strengthen its commitment to empowering communities to design, lead, and sustain their own disaster resilience initiatives.
