ACES Corner | Orientation and Action with LGU Maramag

On August 27, 2025, an orientation on the Radio Telemetry Module Development with Localized ALeRTO Early Warning System was successfully conducted with the Local Government Unit of Maramag, Bukidnon.

This project, funded by the Department of Science and Technology Region IX (DOST-IX) and implemented through the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, is designed to enhance capabilities in real-time environmental monitoring, improve flood early warning systems, and strengthen overall disaster preparedness for vulnerable communities across Mindanao.

The productive discussion centered on the system’s technical specifications and its potential application for enhancing the disaster risk reduction and management framework of LGU Maramag.

This initiative underscores a shared commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically contributing to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by building more inclusive, safe, and resilient urban infrastructures; SDG 13: Climate Action by integrating robust climate change adaptation and early warning measures into local planning; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering the multi-stakeholder collaborations necessary to achieve these critical objectives.

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University extends its gratitude to the officials of LGU Maramag for their engagement and proactive commitment to building a more resilient community.
