S.U.L.U. Project Champions IP Education, Expands Access Through Solar and Digital Tools

Reliable electricity and access to digital learning are now within reach for learners in Campo Uno, as the S.U.L.U. Project (Solar Uplift for Learning and Utilization), a transformative initiative that brings solar-powered energy and essential digital tools to Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, improving classroom conditions in the Campo Uno Indigenous People Elementary School and expanding access to more consistent, inclusive, and technology-enabled education.

Through the Ateneo de Zamboanga University–Center for Community Extension Services (ADZU-CCES), in partnership with Cartwheel Foundation, Inc., Solar Solutions, Inc., and Insights Direct Philippines, the Campo Uno Indigenous People Elementary School formally received support under the S.U.L.U Project. This tech capacity-building initiative delivers solar-powered energy systems and essential digital tools to underserved communities.

The school received six solar panels along with key equipment to improve the learning environment, including four electric fans, one printer, one speaker, one television set, and school supplies—resources expected to enhance both classroom instruction and overall school operations.

For years, teachers and students in Campo Uno have faced challenges due to limited access to electricity and learning resources. With the installation of solar power and the introduction of digital tools, the school is now better equipped to sustain daily instruction and explore more interactive teaching methods.

Now on its fourth implementation in an IP school, the SULU Project supports broader community needs, offering a sustainable source of energy in an area where access has long been limited.

Present during the activity were Ms. Isobel Ranulfa S. Dolatre of Cartwheel Foundation, Inc., Mr. Kenneth Abellanosa, Mr. Mark Anthony Gonzales, and Mr. Ronnie Delos Angeles of Solar Solutions, Inc., and Ms. Katherine Santonia, Mr. Pio Nicolo Bondoc of Insights Direct Philippines,  NCIP representative Ma’am Quellie Rubie Perez, IP Leaders, Barangay Chairman Hon. Ron Maravilla, and Campo Uno IP Community.
