SUPPORTING OUR FUTURE IGNATIAN LAWYERS | AdZU RUCJ COL Launches First Formal Scholarship Program for Deserving Law Students

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Rosendo U Castillo College of Law (RUCJ COL) will launch its first formal scholarship program with the Robert and Filomena Lee Scholarship Fund.

This has been made official with a signing of the agreement and turnover of funds in an intimate meeting with AdZU officials last March 13, 2024, at the L’Arcada Administration Conference Room, Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat Highway, Zamboanga City.

Accepting the fund were the Dean of the RUCJ COL, Atty Ma Corazon J Montemor, accompanied by the Assistant to the President for Advancement, Mr. Ralph Jorline M Chua CPA, the Director of the Ateneo Center for Legal Services, Atty Mary Anne Alba and the family of the late Rosendo U Castillo Jr., Sarah Jane Castillo, and Rachel Castillo.  The children of Mr. Robert and Filomena Lee, namely Josephine Lee Gothong, Patrick Guevara Lee, Kenneth Guevara Lee, and Ryan Guevara Lee personally presented the donation.  The amount was turned over by Dean Montemor to Fr Ernald Andal SJ later in the day.

The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving law student this coming School Year 2024 – 2025.

During their conversations, Dean Montemor emphasized the Ateneo Brand of Lawyer – a competent practitioner of the constitution guided by the spirit of service who steps up in championing the rights of the marginalized, the underrepresented, and all those who genuinely need help seeking justice.

The AdZU RUCJ COL hopes that this scholarship will be the first of many in the future.  Generous assistance such as this significantly helps in the school’s dream to produce Ignatian Lawyers who are men and women for God, for others, and for the country.

Our sincerest gratitude goes to the family of Robert and Filomena Lee.
