Noticed Something New? AdZU
Library puts up BSP section

As
you enter and walk across the second floor of the Fr Jose Bacatan SJ Library, a
banner both big and blue catches your eye. It is the new section of the Ateneo
de Zamboanga University (AdZU) Library – the Knowledge Resource Network. This is the outcome of AdZU’s
partnership with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in their promotion of access
to educational and financial information. The collection includes books, journals, annual reports,
statistical publications, brochures, pamphlets, inflation reports, and other
learning materials that are beneficial to researchers, faculty, staff, and
students, most especially those who focus on the areas of economics, banking,
finance, and investments.

The
AdZU and BSP entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last June 29 at Palacio
del Sur, Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City. This agreement between ADZU,
BSP, also includes other Knowledge Resource Network (KRN) beneficiaries.
Undertaking this agreement, the AdZU library is then tasked to showcase,
catalog, and monitor the usage of all BSP publications and information
materials which are all free to use and made available to the whole Ateneo
community.

To
forge the ties between BSP and KRN members were Charlemagne Fetalvero, Zamboanga City’s BSP Branch Head;
Nelia Balagapo, Head Librarian of the BSP Economic and Financial Learning
Center; Hermogenes Buenaflor Jr, Bank Officer II; and Noelle Angela Pamaran,
Senior Research Specialist.

Fr
Marcos Louis Catalan, SJ, AdZU Vice President for Higher Education signed in
behalf of the University President, Fr Karel San Juan, SJ. Fr Catalan was
accompanied by Lynnie Calingacion, AdZU Library Director; Marcelina Ascura, AdZU
Assistant Library Director, and other head librarians.

Soon,
BSP aims to launch an official website for the Knowledge Resource Network to allow the community to have access to
online resources and information. Other KRN network beneficiaries include Pilar
College in Zamboanga City; Medina College and Marian College in Zamboanga
Sibugay; Philippine Science High School Zamboanga Peninsula Region in Dipolog,
Zamboanga del Norte and Claret College of Isabela in Isabela, Basilan.
