• Satellite
Finance Office in W.H Kreutz Campus will be accepting payments for the 1st
Quarter Exams on Aug 10-16, 2017, 8am to
4pm.
• Mr.
Alfaro will attend the ZAMBASULTAPS Annual General Assemblies on August 8 and 9 at the Garden Orchid
Hotel.
• I
will be away for family concern from Aug 7 to 11. Mr. Jeffrey
Jalani will be the O.I.C. He is authorized to sign the documents on my
behalf.
• Since
we are still under Martial Law, please be reminded of our curfew, no students and faculty are allowed to stay in the Kreutz
Campus beyond 5:30 pm except for
valid reason and with permission from
the Office of the
Principal.
3. Points
to Ponder
In
1947, Dr Chandrasekhar was schedule to teach an advanced seminar in
astrophysics at the University of Chicago. At that time, he was living in
Wisconsin, doing research at the Yerkes astronomical observatory. He faced an
in-the-dead-ofwinter, twice a week, one-hundred-mile commute to teach the
class, but nonetheless agreed enthusiastically.
Registration
for the advanced seminar, however, fell far below expectations. In fact, only
two students signed up for the class. Other faculty members expected Dr.
Chandrasekhar to cancel the course so as not to waste his valuable time.
However, he was determined to continue with the course and give his very best
to the two students registered.
Those students, Chen Ning Yan and Tsung-Dao
Lee, made his effort worthwhile. Ten years later, in 1957, they both won the
Nobel prize for physics. Dr. Chandrasekhar later won that same award in 1983.
Ends and means are not meant to exist in
conflict. Good means to good ends are what God challenges us to find and to do,
regardless of the personal cost, the effort required or a lack of public
acclaim. The best pursuit of the best ideals is what makes for integrity.
