ACLG’s 4th MLGP Batch Gather in Colloquium
The fourth batch of ADZU-Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance’s Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP), composed of mayors, health and social workers and planning and development officers from nine (9) municipalities in Region 9, reunited in a colloquium after completing the program, on February 2-4, 2016 at the Garden Orchid Convention Center, this city.
The MLGP, implemented through the Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG), in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF), is designed to build the capacities of key municipal officers and personnel to address the health challenges in their respective municipalities. It consists of two modules and a practicum lasting six (6) months.
During the practicum, the participants develop responsive health systems, following the Municipal Health System Development Roadmap, to address issues affecting safe maternal delivery and infant births. After the practicum and prior to the colloquium, the ACLG conducts an on-site valuation of the municipalities to ensure that there were marked changes in leadership as seen through their respective municipal roadmaps and interviews with key stakeholders.
During the colloquium, the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and the Municipal Health Officers (MHOs) presented their achievements, and discussed their learnings and experiences that will guide them through the years beyond the program. The health teams also narrated the challenges they encountered in implementing their health programs and their leadership responses to improve the municipal health system in their respective towns.
Other highlights of the colloquium include a leadership recollection facilitated by Sister Jesnen Porras, ADC, and the Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Fr Salvador Wee, SJ.
The colloquium was attended by the LCEs, MHOs, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, and the Municipal Planning and Development Officers from the following municipalities: Ramon Magsaysay, Manukan, Malangas, Tabina, Tukuran, Josefina, Buug, Sominot, and Midsalip.
