ADZU Employees and Students Organize a Tree Planting Activity

Ateneo de Zamboanga University teachers, staff, and students headed to the forests of Dulian on May 16, 2015  to conduct a tree planting activity. Participants braved long travel, strong rain and a difficult climb up a hill to plant 200 mahogany seedlings.

The event was spearheaded by the College Faculty Club in partnership with the Office of the Academic Vice President and the ADZU Center for Community Extension Services. The organizers also coordinated with Dulian barangay officials including Barangay Captain Leon Tabuena and Barangay Kagawad Perfecto Dela Cruz.

The ADZU group that participated included teachers and staff of various offices in the university including staff members of the Fr Jose T Bacatan, SJ Library headed by library directo Lynnie M Calingacion, Annalie Mitra of the School of Nursing, Office of Student Affairs staff Teddy Jambre, School of Management faculty Feliciano Montaño, Francis Arroyo and Dexter Velez.

They were joined by Management 205 A & B students, SACSI-ECOWATCH volunteers, and Dulian residents, specifically barangay tanods.


The group’s designated tree planting location was at the Dulian Watershed in the east coast of the city.

College Faculty Club (CFC) president Jose Journal Pañgan said that the group is grateful for the support of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and PENRO which gave the two hundred (200) mahogany seedlings the group planted.
