Tree Planting in Sta. Maria

It was May 10, 2012- a perfect day to do something productive and highly appreciated that will not only benefit a certain area, but also the world, and because of that very perfect timing to do such an act, it really did happen, and went along very smoothly.

PNA is celebrating “International Nurses Day”. To help save the environment, we will have our TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY which will done simultaneously by all PNA chapters nationwide. PNA Zamboanga City is inviting all those who would like to join in the activity tomorrow, May 10, 2012 in Sta Maria. Meeting place will be at Annrica Building infront of Sta Maria Elementary School at 6:00 AM. Transportation will be available to ferry us to the site.

The time was 6:00 AM in the morning, and the group had a meet-up just outside the elementary school in Sta. Maria, waiting for the others to arrive, and when they did, the group headed off to the area where the group was assigned to do their “jobs”.

A Tree Planting” program was conducted in a small area in Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City, and there were very respectable people present at that event; the participating institutionsand organizations: Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for facilitating the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) request of 50 Narra seedlings; PNA Regional Council-Zamboanga City Chapter; PNP Regional Health Services 9 headed by Dr. Dexter Bubuli, Sta Maria Barangay Kagawad, different Specialty and Interest Groups of Nurses . The ORNAP -Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines; CHNAP -Community Health Nursing Advocates of The Philippines; CCNAZPI -Critical Care Nursing Advocates of Zamboanga Peninsula INC.  , SLRC, students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University College of Nursing, Dr Vivian Cuenca Laput and Clinical Instructors of Universidad de Zamboanga, and Pilar College nursing students.

At about 6:45 the group arrived, and immediately the materials needed and the determination present were as ready as ever. Shovels, different types of plants, “PNA” picket signs, and garden gloves were pulled out of their bags, and then they started working.

As the group planted trees on the different corners and areas of the lot, picket signs were placed on the exact areas where the trees were planted.

The project went on for an hour and a couple of minutes more, then just as the last tree was planted, the last picket sign was placed as well. The group felt very blessed to be given the opportunity to contribute for the betterment of the environment we all live in, and the people responsible for arranging this were also very thankful, and gave us food and drinks as a sign of appreciation of such endearment. Again, the “Tree Planting” went very smoothly and successfully, with more and more beneficial projects to come.
