The Social Development Office of Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the Movement for Better Zamboanga (MBZ) hosted a lecture-forum entitled “ Urban Renewal and Redevelopment Concepts to make Zamboanga City a Globally Competitive Smart Green Gateway City Well into the 21st Century” on November 18, 2013 at the Carlos Dominguez Hall, Fr Eusebio Salvador SJ campus. The speaker for the event was Architect and Urban Planner Felino “Jun” A. Palafox Jr, one of the top 100 architects of the world.
The purpose of the lecture was to open an opportunity for conversation on the rehabilitation plans for Zamboanga City. According to Fr Albert Alejo SJ, ADZU Assistant to the President for Social Development and President of Movement for Better Zamboanga Foundation, the forum becomes “all the more important as the whole city is faced with various threats ranging from security to climate change as well as various opportunities from new technologies to the opening of the ASEAN in 2015”.
In attendance were newly-inducted officers of the MBZ and key stakeholders such as representatives from the business sector, the academe, socio-civic organizations, and religious leaders.
