Islamic New Year (Amun Jadid) and Christmas Holidays

15 December 2009

MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY

RE: ISLAMIC NEW YEAR (AMUN JADID) AND CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

I wish to inform our community that 18 December, Friday, has been declared as a nonworking holiday by the Office of Muslim Affairs (OMA) to celebrate the Islamic New Year (Amun Jadid).  There will be no classes and offices on this day.  Happy Islamic New Year!

The government has declared the following dates as nonworking days or special holidays:  24, 25, 30, 31 December and 01 January.  I am declaring 21, 22, 23, 26, 28 and 29 December as special holidays.  There will be no classes and offices during the aforementioned dates.  Offices will resume on 02 January, Saturday, while classes will recommence on 04 January, Monday.

I wish you all a Blessed and Joyous Christmas and a New Year filled with hope, peace and security for all of us.

With my prayers.
