Bishops and Archbishops across the country set a historic milestone when they sat down in a landmark meeting with thousands of catholic educators during the recently concluded Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) Convention.
The convention was held at Manila Hotel on September 16, 17 and 18 2009.
Ateneo de Zamboanga University was represented by a delegation of unit and office heads and headed by university president Fr. Antonio F. Moreno, SJ.
The participation of bishops and archbishops in the convention was in response to a clamor to involve the prelates as stakeholders in active discussions with catholic educators; to enlist help in resolving problems school administrators face.
The Archdiocese of Zamboanga was represented by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, DD.
Among the major issues raised were questions on land ownerships, cooperation in catechists instruction, and financial matters involving the parishes.
The bishops vowed proactive cooperation with participants in helping resolve issues confronting the school administrators in their areas.
The Bishops participation in the CEAP convention was lauded as a vital move to help strengthen quality education in the countryside.
The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) is the biggest organized group of Catholic schools in the country, with about 1,252members.
