Mathematical Society of the Philippines Announces 13th Philippine Math Olympiad

The Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP) announces the 13th Philippine Math Olympiad (PMO) – the country’s oldest and most prestigious nationwide mathematics competition among high school students.

The PMO is designed to select the country’s best students in mathematical problem-solving.  Individual students compete with each other through the three stages of the Olympiad.  The first is the qualifying stage (Regional).  Then the qualifiers compete with other qualifiers from other regions in the area stage (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR). Subsequently, qualifiers from the area stage move on to the Nationals.

The qualifying stage for Region IX will be held on October 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ateneo de   Zamboanga University (Main Campus).  To prepare for the qualifying stage of the PMO, a lecture series for coaches and faculty on Problem Solving Techniques in Mathematics will be held on October 14-15, 2010 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (Main Campus).
