May 23, 2025 – On May 21-23, 2025 Mr. Louie RM Bacomo, Director of Climate and Forced Displacement and former Regional Director of Jesuit Refugee Service Asia Pacific (JRSAP), conducted the official ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ โ ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง โ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ซ ๐. As the international funder of the initiative, Mr. Bacomoโs engagement underscores the continuing commitment to fostering ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ.

During the two-day assessment, Mr. Bacomo met with the Indigenous Peoples of the ๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ข ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ค๐ข ๐๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐, Talon-Talon, representing the coastal component of the project. He also visited the ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ง, ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ง, which comprise the upland areas. These consultations provided an in-depth look into the progress and impact of the project on the ground.

In close partnership with the Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability (ACES) through its ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ (Stewardship and Indigenous Environmental Management for Biodiversity and Resilience Action), the C3P3 initiative aims to rehabilitate and enrich a total of ๐๐ ๐ก๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐โ upland and coastalโby planting ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ-๐๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ. More importantly, the project champions the role of indigenous peoples in safeguarding biodiversity and fortifying the resilience of their ancestral domains.

The assessment not only highlighted the ecological gains of the reforestation efforts but also affirmed the significance of ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ-๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ. The active participation and leadership of the ๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ข ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ stand as a testament to the project’s vision: empowering indigenous communities to be frontliners in the care for creation and the sustainable management of their natural heritage.
