From November 9 to 10, 2024, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University hosted two highly anticipated Mathematical Olympiad training sessions organized by the Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP) in collaboration with AdZU’s College of Science, Information Technology, and Engineering (CSITE) Mathematics Department. The event attracted 172 participants, including 100 students and 72 coaches, from 35 schools spanning the Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Norte, Soccsksargen, and Davao.
The student training session, held on November 9 to 10, was an intensive one-and-a-half-day experience that ended at midday on November 10. Students were exposed to a wide range of mathematical concepts necessary for success in competitive mathematics, with a focus on problem-solving strategies in combinatorics, number theory, algebra, and geometry.
The intensive experience fostered not only mathematical growth but also a sense of camaraderie among the students, inspiring them to continue honing their skills and striving for excellence in future Olympiads.
