Welcoming the new School Year

01 June 2016

MEMO TO : THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

RE :WELCOMING THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

I thank the entire University community for your unwavering commitment and hard work that reaped many blessings for the school year 2015-2016.  I am proud of our achievements as a University, and I am very much grateful to the administrators, faculty, staff, students, and partners in mission who made them possible.

Commencing the strategic planning process during the first quarter of 2016 is timely and fitting. It braces us for these interesting times  — with the unconventional style of the new national leadership, the tenuous peace and order situation in the peninsula, the confounding K-12 reforms and its impact on higher education, to name a few.

I thank everyone for participating in the process, which kicked off with group conversations by units, departments and offices. This was followed by the six-day, two-part University Strategic Planning Conference (USPC) held last May.  With a few more fine-tuning, we expect our new five-year strategic plan to be crafted soon.

We welcome the school year 2016-2017, with the new addition to our AdZU family — our Senior High School!  I thank the SHS team for taking on this new mission, and I ask the University community for their support and cooperation.

As ONE Ateneo, let us dauntlessly face the challenges ahead and joyfully celebrate the triumphs to come. With optimism, I look forward to another opportunity to work with you in the service of the mission of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

Muchas gracias y Bienvenidos a todos!
