US Embassy Diplomat visits University

Ms. Najlaa Abdus-Samad, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, from the U. S. Embassy, Manila, came to Ateneo de Zamboanga University last January 20-21, 2011 to formalize plans to initiate a college scholarship program starting next school-year and to sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the university, represented by Fr President, Antonio F. Moreno, SJ.

Ms. Samad was accompanied by Atty. Neil Y. Pacamalan, Cultural Affairs Specialist for Mindanao, Public Affairs Section, US Embassy.

After a courtesy call and signing of the MOA, our guests were given a tour of the university by Fr Tony himself and assisted by Conrado Z. Balatbat, Director, Office of Scholarships. They also visited the William H. Kreutz, SJ HS Campus.

With the signing of the MOA with the US Embassy, we expect to have at least 6 additional full scholarships starting next school year.

On behalf of the future US Ambassador Scholars, the Ateneo would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the people who have made this possible, most especially Ms. Samad and Atty. Pacamalan.
