Building Lasting Connection: IÑIGO 2026 Culminates with Stronger Community Partnerships, Transformative Learning

On June 20, 2026, Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), through the Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability (ACES) in partnership with the College of Nursing (CON), concluded IÑIGO 2026 with a Culminating Program held in the Municipality of Siay. The event marked the successful completion of the University’s community immersion initiative, celebrating the meaningful partnerships established among student immersers, foster families, local stakeholders, and the communities that generously welcomed them throughout the program.

The culminating activity provided students, foster families, and community partners an opportunity to reflect on their shared journey and celebrate the lessons gained through immersion. Rooted in the Ignatian values of accompaniment, service, and solidarity, IÑIGO 2026 went beyond an academic requirement, immersing students in the realities of community life while deepening their understanding of environmental stewardship, public health, and community-centered healthcare. Through meaningful engagement with the communities they served, students strengthened their commitment to becoming compassionate, socially responsible healthcare professionals equipped to lead with competence, empathy, and a genuine dedication to the common good.

AdZU extends its sincere gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Siay, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Siay, the Siay Municipal Police Station, the officials and residents of Barangays Logpond and Moching, the Dean, faculty members, and clinical instructors of the AdZU College of Nursing, and, most especially, the foster families for their invaluable partnership, guidance, hospitality, and unwavering support throughout the immersion program. Their collaboration exemplifies the power of shared commitment in advancing transformative education, community engagement, and the holistic formation of future healthcare professionals.

As IÑIGO 2026 comes to a close, AdZU celebrates not only the successful completion of another community immersion program but also the strengthened partnerships with its host communities and the continued formation of Ateneans committed to becoming persons for and with others.

Daghang salamat, Siay. Thank you for opening your homes and becoming our second home.
