Soc-Sci Dep’t to hold 3rd Public Lecture

The Social Sciences Department of the School of Liberal Arts announces its third public lecture entitled: “Drawing the Line Between Culture and Torture.”

The said lecture will be held on September 30 (Wed) at 3:00 PM at the NCB 201-202 and is open to members of the ADZU community and the public. Mr. Robert Panaguiton, faculty of the Social Sciences Department of the SLA, will address key issues on tradition as nurture and as torture, and on cultural relativism.

Mr. Panaguiton has served as resource person in some conferences. This coming October 22-24, he will be presenting a paper in the 31st UGAT Annual Conference at Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan, Cagayan de Oro City.

This public lecture is third in the series. The second lecture given by Dr. Rey Remotin was well attended and generated many insights from the audience.

This lecture series, composed of a rich array of topics including History, Political Science, Economics, Humanities, Sociology and Anthropology, is the Social Sciences Department’s contribution to the university’s intellectual leadership direction in the region.
