Education is never just about the acquisition of information. Education, especially in Jesuit Schools, entails a process of forming the heart and mind of the student. It is the hope of a Jesuit educational institution, such as the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, for a well-rounded person who is intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice in generous service to the people of God.
By fostering an environment of reverence, reflection, and prayer, the formation process instills and strengthens in its students a deep love of God which compels them to live out one’s faith and respond to the struggle for justice which it entails.
In going through a rigorous academic curriculum and being immersed in an atmosphere of service and volunteerism, the student comes out as one who is intellectually competent with a good moral bearing and deep sense of compassion. His/her sense of compassion flows into his/her decisions and actions showing a commitment to the common good.
The completer of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School is also keenly aware of the richness and diversity of cultures and faiths in the world allowing him/her to better appreciate his/her own faith and culture as a Filipino and Mindanawon.
These ideals are summarized in the five Cs: competence, conscience, character, compassion, and culture
