Plans to construct two buildings on La Purisima Campus

01 March 2010

MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY

RE: PLAN TO CONSTRUCT TWO BUILDINGS ON LA PURISIMA CAMPUS

I am happy to inform you that in our Board meeting last Saturday, 27 February, the Board ratified a resolution made earlier regarding the construction of two buildings on La Purisima campus.  Our application to construct these two buildings has been forwarded to our Province Curia, and then it will have to be submitted to the General Curia and the Vatican for approval.

These two buildings will replace the existing structure of the canteen (back of  the Brebeuf gymnasium) and the dormitory building (facing Alvarez Street).  While waiting for the official approval, the old canteen will have to be demolished, and one acacia tree will be replanted to prepare for the construction.  We have already relocated the old canteen to the gymnasium.

The Canteen building will consist of four-storey structure and a roof deck.  The first two floors will be used as the university canteen and the third and fourth floors will be designed for classrooms and multipurpose events.  The first and second floors of the “Dormitory building” will be designed for external use.  The third and fourth floor will be used as a student and faculty residence.  The construction of the canteen building will commence immediately upon receipt of official approval.  The “Dormitory building” construction will follow in due time.  We are hoping Arerbac Construction will be our contractor for the two buildings.

We do apologize for the inconvenience the proposed construction will cause our university life on campus.

For your information.
