Philosophy Department hosts Inter-Ateneo Mindanao Philosophy Convention

The Philosophy Department of the School of Arts and Sciences hosted the 2014 Inter-Ateneo Mindanao Philosophy Convention on October 16-18,2 014 at the JMR Conference Room, SDC Building with the theme, “Kalinaw og Kalambuan sa Mindanao Pinaagi sa Pamilosopiya (Peace and Development in Mindanao through Philosophizing)“.

The convention was attended by Philosophy teachers of Ateneo de Davao University, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, and Ateneo de Zamboanga University. The convention included paper presentations on the given theme:

  • Ang Kabuluhan ng Malayang Pagkilos – Perre Ian T. Dela Cruz (AdZU)
  • Rethinking Aesthetics: What Role does Aesthetics have in Politics? – Peter Paul Elicor (ADDU)
  • On Freedom as Law-Like: Revisiting Kant’s Formulation – Tyron Keith Maru V. Sabal (XU)
  • On the Justice-Care Dichotomy as a False Story and Why the Story must be Rewritten – Duane Allyson U. Gravador (ADDU)
  • Moving from Crudity to Culture: Understanding Kant’s Idea of a Universal History (A Reflection on a Development of Peace) – Milagros Catherine P. Arcadio-Rivera (XU)
  • K to 12 Curriculum and Philosophy – Sarah Mae R. Ismael (AdZU)

The convention is held annually and will be held again next year in Xavier University.
