Jollibee Group Foundation, CCES, and DepED Region IX Visit BLT Schools
The Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) conducted an onsite visit on November 24-25, 2014 to the beneficiary schools of the Busog, Lusog, Talino (BLT) program in Zamboanga City.
JGF has been a partner of the Ateneo Center for Community Extension Services and the Department of Education in implementing a 120-day in-school feeding program dubbed as Busog, Lusog, Talino (BLT). The program has been present for the past four years in the following public elementary schools: Lunzuran Elementary School, Sinunuc Elementary School, Mercedes Central School, EAAB Elementary School and Malagutay Elementary School.
The onsite visit aims to give the foundation an opportunity to interact with school partners and student beneficiaries while documenting best practices that will help improve the implementation of the program in all their sites.
The 2 day onsite monitoring ended with a learning session on “Effective Communication” at the JMR Function Hall of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Salvador Campus. It was attended by principals, nutrition coordinators and teachers of recipient schools as well as a representative from Nagdilaab Foundation of Basilan.
Improving learning among pupils entails more than just enhancing teaching methods. More importantly pupils need to be nourished so that they can absorb what is being taught in the classroom.
Present in the onsite visit were Schools District Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad, CSEE, Ma. Laize-ar A. Cruzat, Program Officer of the Jollibee Group Foundation, Janed Chan, Program Officer, CCES and Leida Ramirez, Division Nurse DepEd ZC Division.
