Ateneo de Zamboanga University celebrated the 9th Completion Ceremonies of its Junior High School with joy and gratitude yesterday, April 26, 2024, at the Fr William H Kreutz, SJ Campus in Tumaga, Zamboanga City.
Along with the parents and the candidates for completion, the event was graced by the presence of University President, Fr Guillrey Anthony M Andal SJ, Vice President for Basic Education and JHS Principal, Fr Arnel T Ong SJ, Assistant Principals Mr Arvin Giva, Ms IC Zamora, and Mr Pilamer Araneta, along with representatives from the Alumni Association and the GPTA Executive Board, led by Mr Raymund Jay P Siasico, the Registrar, Ms Anna Sheila Tejada-Torralba, and the dedicated AdZU faculty and staff.
The ceremony highlighted outstanding students who excelled in various subjects and extra-curricular activities, embodying the spirit of Magis and Animo that defines Ateneans. Guest speaker Ms Jeanie Nieva Dela Rama emphasized the importance of sacrifice, diligence, and working smart, preparing the completers for the challenges beyond the walls of the JHS classroom.
A poignant moment of the ceremony was the recognition of outgoing Principal, Fr Arnel T Ong, SJ, who is set to embark on a new assignment in the coming months. In his homily, Fr Ong reminded the students to carry the values of Magis and Animo with them, reassuring them that Ateneo will always be their home.
Brother Rex Francis B Coz, SJ, and Ms Tricia Dealagdon of the English Department skillfully served as Masters of Ceremonies, ensuring the smooth flow of the program.
As the event concluded with the singing of the alma mater song led by Fr Guillrey Anthony M Andal, SJ, and other distinguished guests, the AdZU JHS community celebrated the achievements of its Completers with pride and anticipation for their bright futures ahead.
