“The Almighty has done great things for me”
Today’s gospel talks about Mary’s gratitude & reverence to our Almighty and ever living God. She expressed her gratitude for being the chosen one to bear the only begotten Son of God. Even though at first she hesitated to accept such mission since she found herself unworthy, she did it anyway because she knew that God will always look upon His lowly servant. And being the mother of the Son of God is the greatest thing that God has ever done to her.
This would also be the challenge for us in today’s time. Like Mary, we are called to be open and willing to accept the responsibilities given to us by God. Accepting means not merely doing what we have to, but responding to them with grateful heart and passion. Let us not consider our responsibilities as creations of God and as citizen of our country as burdens, rather, a great opportunity to show God that we are faithful to Him as His lowly servants. At the end of it, we may realize the real meaning of our existence and appreciate God’s plan for us.
