MEMO TO: UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
RE: COORDINATOR FOR MUSLIM AFFAIRS
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Yusuf Roque Morales as Coordinator for Muslim Affairs beginning June 16, 2014.
Mr Morales is formerly the officer in charge of the Bureau on Peace and Conflict Resolution of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF). He is also a member of the board of advisers of the Alqalam Institute for Muslim Identities of Ateneo de Davao University. He has extensive experience in community development, educational development, Islamic philosophy, and Sufism.
As Coordinator for Muslim Affairs, Mr Morales will work toward the enhancement of University programs and engagements with our Muslim constituencies within the University and in the bigger community. He will work with offices, centers, and personnel to strengthen our dialogical engagement with the Muslim religion and culture. The areas of integration and development will be in the following areas: academic curriculum, social development, student and staff social formation, social advocacy for nation building, and spiritual formation. He reports to the Office of the President.
