On December 12, 2024, a Baselining Orientation was held at SD Knowledge Center, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, where dedicated educators from Simariki School for Indigenous People gathered for an essential session to baseline their students in literacy and numeracy. This session, led by the Ateneo Learning & Teaching Excellence Center, provided teachers with the tools and strategies needed to establish a strong foundation for student progress and success.
The orientation was designed to help educators assess the current literacy and numeracy levels of the Simariki students, offering a clear starting point for tailoring teaching strategies. By identifying students’ strengths and areas for improvement, the teachers were empowered to create individualized learning plans, ensuring each student receives the attention and support needed for growth.
Experts in education assessment from the Ateneo Learning & Teaching Excellence Center guided Simariki teachers through the use of literacy and numeracy assessment tools, highlighting the importance of data-driven teaching.
