Autonomous Status Renewal

16 April 2016

MEMO TO :  THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

RE : AUTONOMOUS STATUS RENEWAL

I am happy to inform the community that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has renewed the University’s Autonomous Status for three years (April 2016 to May 2019), pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order No. 20 series 2016.

CHED grants this distinction to higher education institutions (HEIs) with a long tradition of integrity and untarnished reputation, commitment to excellence, and sustainability and viability of operations. This autonomous status affords the HEIs leeway to determine their own curricula, offer new programs, confer honorary degrees, and carry out operations unhindered, among others.

AdZU is among the 59 HEIs nation-wide that have been granted autonomy and the only one in Region IX.

Through our collective effort and synergy as a community in the service of the University’s mission, we have sustained this autonomous status since 2007.

I especially congratulate and thank the Higher Education administrators, faculty, staff and students, under the leadership of the Academic Vice President, Dr Rebecca V Fernandez for this wonderful achievement.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

FR KAREL S SAN JUAN SJ

University President
