On November 22, 2024, at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, the SL-!ExcSEED Program’s Partners’ Gathering brought together IP leaders from the Sama Banguingui, Kolibugan, Yakan, and Subanon communities, along with students from the School of Liberal Arts (SLA). Aligned with the !ExcSEED Program, this initiative immerses SLA college students in hands-on socio-anthropological projects.
Through community exposures and service initiatives, students engage deeply with the stories of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Zamboanga City. By learning while serving, they create meaningful narratives about the tribes as part of their coursework. This gathering highlighted the role of religious leaders in discussions on faith and beliefs and recognized the NCIP’s guidance in fostering respectful collaborations and informed consent processes.
Together, we reaffirm our commitment to bridging communities, promoting mutual respect, and creating transformative service-learning experiences that celebrate diversity and shared humanity.
This is the Transformative Story of Connectedness.
