Over two terms, students from the BS Computer Science and BS Information Technology programs showcased their innovation and teamwork by developing systems aimed at solving real-world problems. These projects served as course requirements for Database Management and Web Systems and Technologies while also embodying the spirit of service through the Service Learning- !EXCEED Program (SLP) under the Social Awareness Community Service Involvement (SACSI).
Guided by Ms. Jeleth Patiño, the students collaborated with key stakeholders, including the Computer Science (CS) Department, led by Ms. Fe Grace Cañedo, Ms. Lindy Jade Alabata the Career Development Officer of ACE Office, Erica Joy Losabi, the NSTP Program Officer of SACSI Office, Kevin Roy Jimera, the Director of Campus Ministry Office, and Tricia Mae D Manulong of the Lantaka Campus. These target beneficiaries inspired the groups to create meaningful solutions that extend beyond academics.
The students developed systems such as the Lantaka Reservation System, Alumni Scheduling Web Application, and Evaluation Management System for the Campus Ministry, along with other innovative solutions designed to streamline processes and improve efficiency. These projects address real-world challenges, providing target beneficiaries with practical tools that enhance operations and create a lasting impact on the community.
This achievement would not have been possible without the mentorship and expertise of the course instructors, Ms. Precious Opinion, the Database Management Instructor and Mr. Gio Dimaculangan, the Web Systems and Technologies Instructor. Their unwavering support and knowledge fueled the students’ success, culminating in well-developed systems that were proudly presented and received with enthusiasm.
The SLP, the CS Department, and even the entire College of Science, Information Technology, and Engineering (CSITE) are optimistic about continuing this productive partnership into the next semester or so, to further strengthen the collaboration between students, instructors, and community beneficiaries.
The CSITE takes immense pride in this accomplishment. It stands as a testament to the collaborative effort, creativity, dedication, and faith of everyone involved—students, instructors, and key partners alike. This milestone is the outcome of countless hours of collaboration and perseverance, reflecting the values of magis and cura personalis. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement!
