AdZU Takes Bold Steps Toward Solar Energy Optimization Through Specialized Training

October 2024

From October 9-11, 2024, Engr. Raymond T. Ong of Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability, together with personnel from the Physical Plant Office (PPO) and from the Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) actively participated in a Solar Training Workshop facilitated by Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU). This hands-on workshop provided practical experience with AdZU’s solar panels, aiming to strengthen technical expertise and equip participants with the necessary skills to manage and maintain solar energy systems effectively.

The workshop was a cornerstone of AdZU’s ongoing efforts to address underperformance in its Solar-PV systems. Participants, including Engr. Ong, engaged directly with the university’s solar infrastructure, inspecting panels, inverters, and electrical connections while gaining valuable insights into system optimization. This practical approach ensured that participants not only understood the theoretical aspects of solar energy but also developed the competencies required to implement solutions on the ground.

The training emphasized critical aspects of solar energy management, including preventive and corrective maintenance, system monitoring, and troubleshooting, enabling participants to identify and address inefficiencies that hinder optimal energy production.
