AdZU Inst’l Xmas party goes global

Faculty and staff of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University are all hyped-up and eager to wear their national costumes for this year’s institutional Christmas party with the theme “One Family. One World. One Celebration.” Set on December 19 at the MPCC, this Yuletide gathering features a celebration of unity amidst diversity.

“This year’s institutional Christmas celebration will highlight the Church’s theme for 2016 which is the Year of the Family,” says Dr Robert Panaguiton, dean of the School of Liberal Arts, this year’s Christmas party organizer with Joseph Climaco, Religious Studies chair, as head. “It will also feature the colourful relationship among countries all over the world, thus, the national costumes,” Panaguiton added.

Each unit will showcase the national costume of the different continents: Africa for Grade School; Asia for the Junior High School; South America for Central Services; Europe for the faculty of the School of Management and Accountancy and College of Nursing; North America is assigned to the College of Science and Information Technology and School of Education; and Australia and Oceania for the Professional schools.

In this year’s global celebration, three events are slated to be competed for: Live Nativity Scene, National Costume, and the Creative Song and Dance Presentation. Another high point of this festivity is the Parade of the Family of Nations and the Gathering of World Leaders to be led by the SLA Dean. Registration to the party will begin at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. The program proper will commence at 5.

Part of this gathering is the annual institutional advent recollection with the theme, “Ateneans: Bearers of God’s Mercy”. It will be held at the University of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the morning of December 19. This year’s recollection master is Fr. Neupito J. Saicon Jr., SJ. Registration will be from 7:30am to 8:30am.
