AdZU Gallery features Faculty and Staff Artworks

In celebration of the feast of St. Ignatius, the gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago hosted the 2nd faculty and staff art exhibit entitled “Time Out” on July 17, 2014.

Time Out offered an artistic break for some of AdZU’s remarkable faculty and staff. They used various mediums in their paintings, sketches, digital art, photography, mixed media, paper quilling, and arts and crafts.

The opening ceremony started at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall headed by the Master of the ceremony, Mr. Jonathan Geronimo Pajarito. Dan Angelo M. Solon with the accompaniment of Mark Darvin S. Bucoy led the opening prayer and the singing of the national anthem and Zamboanga Hermosa.

In his welcome message, Assistant to the President for Formation, Fr. Wilfredo M Samson SJ shared an inspiring poem and said that, “paintings are a glimpse of one’s spirit, a glimpse of a person’s personality.”

Moreover Cedrick S. Zabala, a faculty member of the CITS and Communication Departments, shared a message telling his journey in the world of art and an interesting story about being mentored by Rameer Tawasil, the famous Minadanaoan artist, in Oil Painting class. He then also became Mr Tawasil’s mentor in digital media.

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the gallery led by Fr. Willy and city councilor, Gerky Valesco.

The exhibitors are as follows: Yunisa J. Baldomero, Danilo T. Batista Jr., Danica Priscille A. Bongat, Dominic Ian E. Cabatit, Maureen Olive B. Gallardo, Jonna Rose G Jallores, Sandra A. Jamiro, Etrellita A. Mancao, Precious T. Opinion, Orlando P. Paber MD, Leah M. Panaguiton, Romeo A. Rabajante, Marc Zuriel R. Rabanal, Rowena P. Mendez, Richter Robin M. Vecina, Francis Ray E. Vesagas, Cedrick S. Zabala. The exhibit was also attended by AdZU students and art enthusiasts.

SLA faculty and artist, Ms. Sandra Jamiro stated that, “My art is my passion; this is how I see things. Every Brush stroke speaks about who I am, what I am, and how I see things.”

“So to everyone who feels they can’t, I urge you to look at the inherent beauty that surrounds you,” added Cedrick Zabala.

Exhibit runs until August 2014.
