AdZU Computer Science and Engineering Students Excel and Win Individual Excellence Award at Hack4Gov ZAMPEN

Hack4Gov Zampen launched on November 18, 2025, at the Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City. The event was organized by the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in collaboration with DICT Regional Office IX and BASULTA. Hack4Gov Zampen provides a platform for student innovators to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges, allowing them to compete, learn, and contribute to a safer digital landscape.

One notable team, the External Blue Eagles from Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), secured the 1st Runner-Up position. The team consists of students from the Bachelor of Computer Science (BS CS) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BS CpE) programs: Jan Ryan R. Simyunn (BS CS), Jan Eriko A. Lim (BS CS), Rebecca Marie C. Tiu (BS CpE), and Zayd Majid (BS CpE).

Other AdZU teams also excelled in the competition. Team DummyData, made up of Adrian Ranier S. Fabian (BS CS), Anton John Orillineda (BS CS), Xander Lee (BS CS), and Gionne Dimaculangan (BS IT), distinguished themselves, with Gionne Dimaculangan receiving the Individual Excellence Award for outstanding performance and skill. Meanwhile, Team Rootkidz, which included Michael Owen A. Niniano (BS CpE), Muhaimin A. Albabi (BS CpE), Cielo Arabella S. Canada (BS CpE), and Nathanielle Dae B. Aquino (BS CS), achieved 6th place.
All AdZU teams successfully participated in the recently concluded Hack4Gov, showcasing not just technical skills but also determination to help create a safer digital world that positively impacts the community. This success was made possible with the mentorship and support of their remarkable guides, Justin Mendoza and Engr. Rosen Gabriel S. Garcia.
