Program Overview

The BPED program is aimed at producing professional teachers with the technical and pedagogical competencies to meet the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective needs of learners. Moreover, as the focus of the program is on teaching Physical Education and Health, the program intends to equip pre-service teachers with dance, sports, fitness, and health concepts and skills as well as movement competency and proficiency focusing on the pedagogy of Physical Education programs.

Program Educational Objectives

The program aims to accomplish the following objectives:

  1. Disciplinal Knowledge: 

                 1.1. Apply scientific and evidence-based practices critical to the educational and learning  processes. 

  1. Movement and Competency and Proficiency: 

                 2.1. Demonstrate skillful performance in a variety of physical activities. 

                 2.2. Adapt performance to variety of physical activity settings: (e.g. formal classes, recreational, and competitive) 

  1. Curriculum and Program Planning, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation: 

                 3.1. Critically examine the curriculum (e.g. content, pedagogy and assessments) and program, and enhance (e.g. innovate) them necessarily. 

                 3.2. Plan and implement safe and effective physical activity programs to address the needs of individual and groups in school and/or non-school settings. 

                3.3. Monitor and evaluate physical activity programs in school and/or non-school settings. 

                3.4. Use appropriate assessments in, as and for student or client learning. Use information, media, and technology in pedagogy and for lifelong learning. 

  1. Professional Accountability and Responsibility: 

                4.1. Demonstrate firm work/professional ethics. 

               4.2. Cultivate solidarity by working and dealing with/relating to others harmoniously. 

               4.3. Promote the advancement of the profession by making sense of and getting involved in  

              current discourse that impact on the profession. 

               4.4 Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional development. 

  1. Communication: 

               5.1. Communicate effectively with PE practitioners, other professionals, and stakeholders. 

               5.2. Use oral, written, and technology formats deftly.

Admission Policies
An incoming first year student must have:
1. a high school or senior high school general average of at least 80;
2. a stanine score of at least 4 in the RTCU.

For transferees and shiftees must have:
1. a GPA of 2.0 or higher with no grades lower than 1.5;
2. a certification of good moral character signed by the College Dean (for transferees only) must be submitted.

For Foreign Students:
1. the same admission policies apply.
Retention Policies
1. A student must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher with no grade lower than 1.5 in any academic subject during the first and second years of college.

2. During the 2nd year, students with grades lower than 1.5 in three (3) subjects in a semester shall be disqualified from the program.

3. Academic subjects with grades lower than 1.5 must be repeated.

4. For subjects in the 3rd and 4th year (as indicated in the curriculum), the passing mark for non-major and non-professional education subjects is 1.0.


For Foreign Students:
1. he/she must have a GPA of 1.5 or higher and no grade lower than 1.0 in any academic subject.
