Celebrating a Successful Partnership for Healthier Schools

We are thrilled to announce the successful signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Safe Schools, Safe Kids (3SK) Project, which took place on September 26, 2024! This momentous event marks a significant collaboration between the Department of Education (DepEd), Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine (ADZUSOM), Unilab, the Tzu Chi Foundation, Zamboanga City Medical Center and Ciudad Medical Zamboanga. Together, we are committed to fostering healthier environments for our dedicated public school teachers and their students.

The 3SK Project is an initiative focused on promoting the health and well-being of public school teachers, acknowledging the unique challenges they face in managing chronic health conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of our children, and ensuring their health is paramount. By prioritizing teachers’ well-being, we aim to create safer, healthier learning environments that directly benefit our students’ educational experiences.

Present during the signing ceremony were the following distinguished partners who share our vision for healthier schools. Our gratitude extends to:

Dr. Ahmad Ameenkar C. Wata III, Medical Officer III, Schools Division DepEd Zamboanga City

Ms. Claire Papa, Assistant Vice President, External Affairs and Social Partnerships, Unilab Inc.

Dr. Anton Mari H. Lim, Officer In Charge, Tzu Chi Foundation

Dr. Jaime Kristoffer Punzalan, Executive Assistant for Special Projects, Zamboanga City Medical Center

Atty. Jihann C. Hairun, Chief Executive Officer, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga

Dr. Jaybee D. Bazan, Dean of Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine

As part of this collaboration, ADZUSOM will take an active role in assisting school nurses and midwives in monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar levels among teachers. We will provide health education sessions focused on chronic disease management, risk assessments, and lifestyle modifications. This proactive approach aims to equip teachers with the tools and knowledge necessary to take charge of their health and well-being.

Together with our partners, we look forward to making a lasting impact on the lives of our teachers and students, paving the way for a brighter and healthier future for all.
