“Persons Deprived of Liberty” (PDL) at the San Ramon Penal Colony Reformatory Center in San Ramon, Talisayan, advances to a more conducive learning environment beginning this August.
Last August 23, 2021, the University Quick Response Team, under the Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI) Office of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), donated two air cooler units and LED TV sets to San Ramon Penal Colony Reformatory Center in San Ramon, Talisayan.
The donation will be used by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), who will undergo therapeutic/behavior modification program with the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and livelihood program. Under the Mandela rule of the United Nations protocol, “persons deprived of liberty” are entitled to minimum humanitarian treatment and shall be treated with respect due to their inherent dignity and value as human beings.
Mr Christian Cruz, Head of the Reformation Program, received donations from Ateneo de Zamboanga University through the efforts of the SACSI Office. Also present were Mr Raimond Campilis, Correction Senior Officer, and Mr Maico Garcia, Corrections Technical Officer.
