ACGO holds Stress Management Seminar at Cabaluay National High School

To help teachers manage stress to improve everyday functioning, the Ateneo
College Guidance and Counselling Office (ACGO) led by its director Norma A Baluca, RGC, conducted a
Stress Management Seminar for administrators and faculty members of the Cabaluay
National High School (CNHS).

Held in partnership with the Department of Education thru the CNHS last November, participants were taught the causes of stress and techniques on how to
manage them. They were trained how to perform the Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) Core Skill, focusing on mindfulness. which included breathing exercise, progressive muscle relaxation technique, and physical
fitness activities.

DBT focuses on
problem-solving and acceptance-based strategies within a framework of
dialectical methods which include processes that
synthesize opposite concepts such as change and acceptance.

DBT practitioners offer
acceptance and support to people in therapy, many of whom have conditions described
as “difficult to treat,” as they work to develop techniques to
achieve goals, greater overall mental and emotional well-being, and lasting
positive change.

As a culminating activity, Baluca and ACGO counselors
Bernard Rommel L Vargas, Alexander A Medina, and Rafael Venancio N Castillo, administered a detoxification and relaxation session
through ear acupuncture.
