Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Advent

Gospel Lk 1:67-79

“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; for he has come to his people and set them free.”

The first chapter of the gospel of Luke reminds me of God’s unconditional love to humankind. From the very beginning in the Old Testament He proved his love to the Israelites. It is a fact that they broke their covenant with God many times, but He continued to love and rescue them from their own self- damage and enemies.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; for he has come to his people and set them free. This is the first sentence that Zechariah spoke spoken after he had recovered from dumbness. He personally experienced God’s unconditional love and discovered God’s faithfulness in fulfilling his promises. He recognized God and received the many blessings from him. He was thankful, and his heart was overflowing with gratitude. And because of that Zechariah became faithful to God. He is a living witness of God’s power.

How about us? Are we aware of the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us? Do we have the attitude of seeing God’s intervention in our life? Are we thankful?

I hope and pray that as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ may we learn to imitate God’s unconditional love and share it to each other.

Advance Merry Christmas!
