The world of Nadia in the story “Nadia and the Blue Stars”—a world of fear, displacement, and loss—is a very real one for countless children who experience war, natural calamities, and other difficult circumstances.
In the time of war, there was a girl named Nadia who took care of her beautiful flowers. Most beautiful among them were Nadia’s Blue flowers. When the war hit Nadia’s village, all her flowers were burned to ashes. After crying for 10-days, Nadia kept on watering the parched soil everyday, until one morning, when Nadia woke up, she saw her blue flowers slowly blossoming back from the war-torn land.
