Use of Software

As a University, we strictly adhere to the law honoring the intellectual property rights of software vendors. This includes Microsoft, Adobe, and SPSS products. For this reason, software officially installed by the CITS in all school computers are covered by software licenses.

Users are also reminded that university guidelines for computer use prohibit the installation of software in school computers without authorization from the CITS. Software that can easily be obtained through pirated CD’s or download sites should not be used as an excuse for installing such software in school computers.

Office and unit heads shall make sure that software installed in their computers have the required licenses and have corresponding records in the CITS.

Office are requested to report any unlicensed software installed in workstations. It will be inconsistent with the university’s commitment to honesty if we use software that violates the legitimate rights of copyright holders.
